THE OUTPOURING OF THE 7 SPIRITS OF GOD,
PART 1
Text: Revelation 5:1-6
1 And I
saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and
on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
2 And I saw a strong angel
proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the
seals thereof?
3 And no man in heaven,
nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to
look thereon.
4 And I wept much, because
no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.
5 And one of the elders
saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of
David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
6 And I beheld, and, lo,
in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the
elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven
eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
Introduction
I have had opportunities, by the grace of
God, to witness some elections in Nigeria. Of all the elections I have
witnessed, one thing that I have found to be common is the way electioneering
campaigns were done.
The political parties would always start
their campaigns slowly, in trickles, and then progressed heavily like
torrential rains as the election day approached. Then, they would bombard every
nook and cranny with their campaign materials – posters, banners, souvenirs and
more. All the electronic, print and social media would become inundated with
campaign adverts and jingles. All available campaign resources in their storage
had to be poured out at the electorates in a last minute effort to win their
votes by all means
This is the most logical thing to do in
every electioneering campaign because once the election is conducted; no
campaign can be done again. And all the campaign materials you failed to use
will not be useful anymore. Campaign after election is useless.
In a similar manner, God is pouring out all
the resources in His arsenals upon all men, women, young and old, trying to win
their souls to Himself as the day of rapture approaches. Once rapture takes
place, the door of grace will be closed and no any tangible soul-winning effort
can take place again.
To this end, God is pouring out His
campaign materials, which includes, vision, dreams, prophecies, revelations and
angels. Principal among the outpouring of God, at this end-time, is His Seven
Spirits of God.
This teaching is meant to expound what the
Seven Spirits are meant for, why God has to pour Him, and how we can be a
partaker of Him.
Jesus Christ, The Owner of The Seven
Spirits of God
Revelation 5:6
6 And I
beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the
midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven
eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
From
the scripture above, the following points are to be noted
-1.
There was a slain Lamb that
had Seven Eyes and Seven Horns.
This
Lamb is the Lamb of God who was slain for the sins of the world and His name is
Jesus Christ.
-2.
The Seven Eyes and Seven Horns
are the Seven Spirits of God.
-3.
Jesus Christ is the owner of
the Seven Spirits.
-4.
The Seven Spirits are sent
forth into all the earth.
Are
there Seven Different Holy Spirits or One?
Let there be no confusion, the Spirit of
God is One Spirit. However, He can pour Himself out upon anyone principally in
seven major diverse manifestations. This is why He is referred to as the Seven
Spirits of God.
Let us consider the scripture below.
1 Corinthians 12:7-11
7 But the
manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given
by the Spirit the word
of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by
the same Spirit; to
another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working
of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to
another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation
of tongues:
11 But all
these worketh that one and
the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
From the underlined words from the
scripture above, we can see that Holy Spirit can pour Himself out in wisdom,
knowledge, faith, healing and diverse manners but is the One and Selfsame Spirit,
The Holy Spirit of God; and not seven different types of Spirit.
Seven
Physical Manifestation/Depiction of The Holy Spirit in the Bible
The Holy Spirit either physically
manifested or is physically depicted in many ways in the Bible. However, the followings
are the seven principal ways that the Holy Spirit physically manifested or is
the depicted in the bible.
-1.
As Cloud
Exodus_13:21
21 And the LORD went
before them by day in a pillar of a cloud,
to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to
go by day and night:
Exodus 19:16
16And it came to pass on the third day in the
morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon
the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people
that was in the camp trembled.
-2. As Fire
Exodus_13:21
21 And the LORD went
before them by day in a pillar of a cloud,
to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them
light; to go by day and night:
Act 2:3
3 And there appeared unto
them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Act 2:4 And they
were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the
Spirit gave them utterance.
The
Holy Ghost manifested physically to Moses and the Israelites as both Cloud and
Fire, and also as Fire to the disciples on the day of Pentecost.
-3.
As Wind
John 3:8
3 The
wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the
sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is
every one that is born of the Spirit.
Act
2:1-4
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come,
they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there
came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all
the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared
unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all
filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the
Spirit gave them utterance.
The Lord, Jesus
Christ, introduced the Holy Ghost as Wind and the Holy Ghost also physically
manifested to the disciples as mighty rushing Wind at Pentecost.
- 4. As Oil
2Kings
4:3-6
3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels
abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a
few.
4 And when thou art
come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour
out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
5 So she went from
him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels
to her; and she poured out.
6 And it came to
pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me
yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the
oil stayed.
The encounter,
here, between Elisha and the widow is a physical prophetic representation of
how God shall fill His servants with the Holy Ghost till they overflow.
The empty vessels,
here, represent those God calls to be His servant. They are always empty when
God calls them. Then, they are anointed with oil till it run over them the way
the empty vessels are filled by the widow, till they overflowed. This
represents the filling of the empty vessels with oil. And then, they are filled
with the Spirit of God to the full.
Psalm 23:5
5 Thou preparest a table
before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Mathew 25:2-4
2 And five
of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They
that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the
wise took oil in their
vessels with their lamps.
5 While the
bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
-5.
As Wine
John 2:7-10
7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he saith
unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor
of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of
the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was:
(but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called
the bridegroom,
10 And
saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and
when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but
thou hast kept the good wine
until now.
This miracle
performed by the Lord, Jesus Christ, was a physical prophetic depiction of how
God shall fill His servants with Holy Spirit to the full in the end-times and
that latter anointing shall be better than the former one.
Can you notice
the comment of the governor in verse 10 that the common practice was to bring
out the best wine at the beginning of an event, and then to bring out the bad
ones at the end. But what Jesus did was contrary. He brought out the best wine
at the end.
By this, a
prophetic depiction of the greatest outpouring of the Holy Ghost at the
end-time was being given.
Can you notice
that, as was with the pot of oil in 2 Kings 4:3-6, the pot of water was also
filled to the brim?
Consider the
scripture below which talks about the breaking of one of the seven seals of the
book of revelation.
Revelation
6:5-6
5 And when he had opened the third
seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black
horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
6 And
I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a
penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou
hurt not the oil and the wine.
When the black
horse was released, it was commanded by God not to hurt the oil and the wine.
These oil and wine, two of the physical depiction of the Holy Spirit, represent
those who will be filled the seven Spirits of God, at the end. They will not be
hurt. God will give them a special protection from the black horse and its
rider.
-6. As Dove
Mathew 3:16-17
16 And Jesus, when he was
baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were
opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon
him:
17 And lo
a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
-7. As Water/River
John
4:13-14
13 Jesus answered and said unto
her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But
whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but
the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into
everlasting life.
15 The
woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come
hither to draw.
Ezekiel 47:3-5
3 And when the man that had the line in
his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me
through the waters; the waters were to the ankles.
4 Again he measured a
thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to
the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters wereto
the loins.
5 Afterward he measured a
thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for
the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed
over.
The first scripture depicts the
Holy Spirit as water springing from within a believer, while the second
scripture depicts the Holy Ghost as a river and the different levels to which the
depth of a river can reach in a man -the ankles, the knees and the waist represent
the different degrees to which a person can be filled with the Holy Ghost.
Ultimately the river can be so
big that it can even submerge a person and carry him away. This represents how
that a person can be filled with the Holy Ghost to the full that it is now the
Holy Spirit that moves the man the way the Holy Spirit wants. This is the same
way the river carries a submerged man anyway and anyhow.
For now, we will not be able to
dig deeper into the details of these physical depictions as regards the
personality of the Holy Spirit.
The
Seven Spiritual Manifestations of The Spirit of God
It has just been mentioned above that the
Holy Spirit is the Selfsame and only One Spirit of God and not seven different holy
spirits. The seven physical depictions of the Holy Ghost were also mentioned.
Now, let us highlight the seven major spiritual
manifestation of the Holy Ghost.
Isaiah 11:1-3
1 And there shall come forth a rod
out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall
rest upon him, the spirit
of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel
and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
3 And shall make him of
quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the
sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
From the scripture, again, the following Seven Spirits can be
highlighted.
-1. The Spirit of
the Lord
-2. The Spirit of
Wisdom
-3. The Spirit of
Understanding
-4. The Spirit of
Counsel
-5. The Spirit of
Might
-6. The Spirit of
Knowledge
-7. The Spirit of
the Fear of the Lord
By these highlighted seven
spirits of God above, we mean that when the Holy Spirit pours Himself upon a
person, for instance, the manifestation can be in wisdom. When this happens
then the Holy Spirit has poured Himself upon that person as Spirit of Wisdom.
The same goes for the rest of the seven Spirits of God.
This analysis agrees with
Revelation 5:6 which tells about a Slain Lamb (Jesus Christ) having Seven
Spirits on Him.
Revelation
5:6
6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the
midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders,
stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes,
which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
Summary
We have shown that the seven Spirits of God
are the seven spiritual manifestations of the same One and Only Spirit of God,
and not seven different Holy Spirit. The seven different manifestations were
mentioned together with the seven different physical depiction of the Holy
Spirit.
Lastly, we were able to show that the
outpouring of these seven Spirits of God is reserved for this end-time.
Conclusion
The
Holy Spirit of God is being poured out as promised by God. Anyone that is born
again and willing to use the seven Spirits of God for what purpose He is poured
out for, will receive from the outpouring.
