PREPARING FOR RAPTURE, PART 12; CRISIS IN HEAVEN

PREPARING FOR RAPTURE, PART 12; CRISIS IN HEAVEN

Text             Luke 14: 16-24

16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.

18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.

23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

Introduction

An online dictionary defines the word ‘crisis’ as a situation in which there are a lot of problems that must be dealt with quickly so that the situation does not get worse or more dangerous.

From the above definition, it is crystal-clear that all crises are problem but not all problems are crisis. If a problem does not require an urgent solution, it is not a crisis. Thus for a problem to be qualified to be called a crisis, it must be a problem that requires an immediate solution, otherwise, it will lead to a greater problem.

In this teaching, we will be looking at a crisis that is happening presently in heaven and how God is quickly planning to address the emergency.

I pray that God enlightens our eyes of understanding in Jesus name.

Japan’s 2011 Earthquake Crisis

To make us understand better what a crisis is, let me try and give an example of a crisis that occurred in Japan in 2011. It was the Japanese earthquake, 2011.

In the year 2011, an earthquake struck in Japan. The earthquake caused a great tsunami which spewed a large volume of water from the ocean into the city. It also destroyed Japan’s Nuclear Power Plant situated at Fukushima. Many people died and great properties were destroyed.

That was a very terrible crisis, at that, that befell Japan, considering the definition of crisis given above.

The happening of the earthquake in itself was not what made the case a crisis but the other problems which the earthquake brought which must be dealt with, immediately, otherwise greater problems would happened in Japan. See a few below.

-1. The Japanese trapped in the rubbles of collapsed buildings must be quickly rescued to save more lives from being lost.

-2. The cities must be quickly cleaned from the debris of the tsunami to avoid disease epidemic from breaking out.

-3. The radiation from the nuclear reactors must be quickly dealt with to prevent the people from exposure to nuclear radiation.

That was a terrible crisis Japan had to deal with in that year.

Crisis in Heaven

Recently, I watched a video on the internet. It was about a wedding that was supposed to take place between a man and his supposed-bride. Everything, however, became chaotic when the supposed-groom declined to continue with the wedding process. He ran out of the wedding hall and started shouting; “I am not doing again”.

The bride with her flowing gown and her family members ran after the man on the street. They were practically begging him to continue with the wedding. It was a terrible and sudden disappointment that befell the bride and her family - a crisis.

Our text above shows a crisis situation that is going on in heaven. The ‘man’ that wanted to make a supper and bade many people to come as represented in the text is God, The Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ. The supper He wants to make is the marriage supper for His Son, Jesus Christ. The many people that He bade to attend the marriage supper and to whom all things are now made ready are prepared for are the Christians, or better still, all those that have received Jesus Christ as theirl Lord and Saviour.. (See Mathew 22:1-14 for this interpretation).

Put yourself in the position of a father or mother that wants to conduct a wedding for his beloved son, and suddenly, on the day of wedding when all things are ready, no invited guest shows up at the occasion or, worse still, the bride elopes with another man. How will you feel? Terribly sad, I guess.

What God is going through, right now, is much worse than that. Time is up for rapture but believers are not ready. They are in deep sleep. God has to pour out great signs; earthquakes, pestilences, hunger, floods and more to get believers woken up from their sleep and prepare to be at the marriage supper of His son, but the more He pours out signs, the more believers fall into deeper sleep -what a crisis that is going on in heaven.

God’s Plan to Break Protocols

During crisis, protocols are broken. Can you imagine the case of the Japanese earthquake crisis that was painted above? If normal roads are blocked, ambulances may pass through one-way to carry injured victims to hospital. Road traffic light may be disabled momentarily to allow people to quickly move away from dangerous places. Lifts may be disabled in skyscrapers to prevent people from being trapped and many more. What I am just saying is that protocols are broken to arrest the crisis.

Also, consider the case of a wedding ceremony where all those that have invitation cards are absent. The protocol is going to be broken. Access is going to be given to those that have no invitation card to enter the event center.

In the same manner, God will be by-passing protocols by giving access to those that were not originally invited to the supper just to save the situation from total dishonor.

Luke 14:21-24
21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.

23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

From the underlined parts of the scripture quoted above, the tone of instruction from the Master to his servants suggests the followings;

-1. Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city; this tone suggests there is emergency that needs to be addressed quickly, and it will not matter where the solution comes from but rather that the crisis at hand be solved.

-2. bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind; from the caliber of the people- the poor, the lame, and the blind, that the Master asked His servants to bring, it shows that the master is more interested in having people attend his ceremony than the caliber of the people that attend it.

He chose to replace the invited ‘VIPs’ that refused to turn up with un-invited, lowly and challenged people – people who would not have had opportunity to be at the ceremony at the first instance.

-3. ’that my house may be filled; this phrase summarized the first two points above. The priority of the Master was to get people attend His supper irrespective of the caliber.

His first priority was those invited guests, and then the un-invited guests if the invited guests failed to show up.

God’s Character of Replacing People

It is the nature of God to replace any person(s), family, church or even nation that refuse to align himself or themselves with God’s plan with another person(s), family, church or nation that will integrate themselves with God’s plan, after much chances and times (opportunities) have been given to those that refused.

Since God does not play with His spiritual investments and plans, it is those that are not ready to be in His plans that He will by-pass and carry-on His plans with others that will show readiness. Let us look at some examples in the Bible.

-1. When The Jews rejected Jesus, God transferred the salvation originally meant for them to the Gentiles.

The Jews disdained the work of salvation that the Lord, Jesus Christ, did on the cross at Calvary and rejected Him as their Lord and Saviour. Since Christ is not going to die the second time and the Jews, that He originally died for had, rejected Him, God transferred that salvation work of Christ to the Gentiles so that the death of Christ would not be in vain.

Mathew 15:24
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

In the scripture above, the Lord, Jesus Christ made emphatic statement that He was sent to the Israelites. But rather that the Israelites should embrace Him, they maltreated Him, accused Him and killed Him. But Jesus warned them severally of their impending replacement if they did not pay the right attention to His Word,

The Lord, Jesus Christ, having known the impending danger that God will transfer the salvation meant for the Jews to the gentiles if the Jews rejected Him warned them in advanced. Let us look at some of those warnings below.

Mathew 8:11-12
11 And I say unto you, That many (many gentiles) shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

12 But the children of the kingdom (the jews) shall be cast out into outer darkness (hell): there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Yet, Jesus warned them again in the scripture below.

Mathew 21:31,43
31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you (the jews).

43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you (The Jews), and given to a nation (gentile nations) bringing forth the fruits thereof.

But it was not only Jesus Christ that warned them of their impending replacement. Prophet John, the Baptist also warned them.

Mathew 3: 7-9
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

-2. When Prophet Elijah rejected God’s counsel to continue with His assignment, God replaced him with Prophet Elisha

1 Kings 19:16
16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room (in your replacement).

-3. God wanted to destroy Israelites that worshipped idol and rebel against God in the wilderness and to raise another people for Moses but Moses interceded.

Deuteronomy 9:13-14                                                                             13 Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

Don’t Let God replace You?

After having established above that God can replace those that fall out of His plan and purpose after having given them many warnings, it is also important to stress what could also make God to replace people. Let us consider what caused God to replace people in two examples made above.

The salvation of the Jews was given to the gentiles because they continually rejected, harassed, disdained, accused, persecuted and ultimately killed the Lord Jesus Christ while they continued in sin and wickedness. They failed to acknowledge and receive the salvation work that the Messiah did on the cross.

Elijah, on the other hand became afraid of Jezebel and ran away for her when , in actual fact, he should have confronted her and slain her like her false prophets. Elijah however rejected all efforts by God to encourage him to continue with that assignment.

Now, Let us look at the attitudes that will make careless Christians lose their place at the marriage supper of the Lamb and be replaced. For this, we refer to our text.

-1. All of them made excuse, Luke 14:18-20. Let us break their excuse into categories.

-a. excuse to acquire property; they wanted to buy land, build houses, etc.
18…………………’The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

-b. excuse for entertainment; they wanted to buy a oxen (car, private jet etc) and ride on it.

19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them……….
-c. marital and family excuses; they wanted to marry and enjoy marital life
20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

In other words, all of these people are selfish towards Messiah. They treat Jesus with levity, the way the Jews treated Him. Like Elijah, they give so many excuses.

This was the same mistake the Jews made. Rather that they should be serious with the Messiah, they treated Him with levity, but went about boasting themselves as the seeds of Abraham, the covenant people, the people of God.

So many Christians fail to prepare themselves for rapture and fail to realize they will soon be replaced at the marriage supper. Rather, like the Israelites, the Christians go about boasting themselves as the chosen generation; yet living in sin, a peculiar people; yet clothed with lukewarmness and worldliness, a royal priesthood; surrounded with excuses.

Summary

There is an on-going crisis in heaven because the marriage supper of the Lord, Jesus Christ, is about to be empty and without much attendance because the majority of Christians who are invited for the supper have consented not to attend. Rather than preparing to be at the marriage supper, majority of Christians have chosen to be occupied with what the Lord, Jesus Christ, Himself, in Luke 21:34 described as ‘the cares of this life’, instead.

However, God the Father who has committed so much resources to this supper will not allow it to be without guests. Rather, He will replace any Christian who failed to show interest in making it to the marriage supper of the Lamb.

Conclusion

At the moment, God’s priority is to hold a befitting marriage supper for His Son, Jesus Christ and get people to attend at all cost. His first priority was those invited guests, and then the un-invited guests if the invited guests failed to show up.

This type of priority and its replacement order is an inherent principle of God. He prepared salvation for the Jews, and then gentiles when the Jews rejected the salvation.

Don’t let God replace you. Watch, prepare and make yourself ready for the marriage supper of the Lamb.
