PREPARING FOR RAPTURE, PART 12, COMPLETE HOLINESS

PREPARING FOR RAPTURE, PART 12, COMPLETE HOLINESS

TEXT:   1 Thessalonians 5:23

1 Thessalonians 5:23
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Introduction
Holiness, though as very important and unwaivable requirement from God for any man to see Him as it is, still, has continued to be trivialized and mocked by many Christians and preachers alike.

In part one of this teaching, I stated in the introduction that while many Christians believe that holiness is somewhat an unrealistic and unattainable standard set by God for man, yet, others believe that no conscious effort is to be taken to live a holy life apart from just confessing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

Another group of Christians, by far most articulating and influential than the first two mentioned above, on their own, believe that holiness is just a matter of heart and that it has nothing to do with what you do with your body, or what you wear on your body. Their line of argument was based on God’s conversation with Prophet Samuel concerning whom the prophet should anoint as king over Israel. See 1 Samuel 16:7.

While Prophet Samuel was considering the physical posture and appearance of the candidates to be anointed as king as the major yardstick to use in selecting a king, God rebuked Samuel and made him to know that it is the condition of the hearts that He (God) uses as the major yardstick in selecting a king and not the physical appearance.

But since God told Samuel that He sees the heart, does it mean that the body of a believer does not matter to Him anymore when it comes to the issue of holiness? Does it mean we can dress the way we want, attach what we want to our hairs, draw the tattoos that we want, fix the eyelashes and false fingernails that we want and so on? The answer is ‘No’.

While the first part of this teaching emphasized the gross importance of the heart in the matters of holiness and holy living, this second part tries to discard the dangerous heresy that God is not interested in the body of believers and how they dress by pointing out clearly that holiness, indeed, cannot be complete without also taking the issue of outward appearance very serious.

Why Your Body is Important to God
God is not just interested in your heart alone as some Christians will have you believe. God is equally interested in your body as your heart. The following points will try to underscore the gross importance God places on the body of Christians.

-1. A person can be cast to hell because of the activities of his body.

Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

The scripture above makes us to know that the activities of a person’s hands, foots and eyes can make a person go to hell. Other parts of the body like tongues can also lead a person to hell.

-2. The body is needed to express what is in the heart.

Mathew 12:3434
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

The scripture says a lot. For instance, a woman that dresses like an harlot does so, simply because the attire is the type of clothe her heart had desired to wear. No person can give what he does not have.

-3. The Holy Spirit lives inside of our body.

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

If the body of a believer is indeed the temple of the Holy Ghost, it means that the believer does not have liberty to dress or adorn the body with anything that is abominable or not befitting to The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is holy and the body He occupies must also be holy.

-4.  Believer’s body can be rendered as a living sacrifice unto God.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto Godwhich is your reasonable service.

This scripture charges us to render our bodies as living sacrifices unto God but with a caution that such body must be holy before God can accept it as sacrifice.

-5. Believers’ bodies are members of Christ.

1 Corinthians 6:15
15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

These are few reasons that show that God is interested in our bodies as much as He is interested in our hearts.

Complete Sanctification Versus Partial Sanctification

Let us refer to our text above, 1 Thessalonians 5:23.

          1 Thessalonians 5:23
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In this text, Apostle Paul prayed that God should sanctify us wholly and preserve us blameless till the Lord, Jesus Christ comes back at rapture. To be wholly sanctified is to be completely or totally sanctified. Apostle Paul, in the statement that followed, however, explained that to be sanctified wholly is to be preserved blameless in the spirit, soul and body.

This blameless preservation of the spirit, soul and body is what is meant by complete sanctification/holiness.

It then follows that any sanctification/holiness that does not encompass the spirit, the soul and the body is a partial sanctification and will not suffice any man to make the rapture.

We can immediately see that concentrating on sanctification of the heart (spirit and soul) alone while disregarding bodily blamelessness amount to incomplete sanctification. Both the cleanliness of heart and body are required for us to make rapture.

Sanctification/blamelessness of the body

          1 Thessalonians 5:23
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Again, if we logically considered our text, 1 Thessalonians 5:23, above, the following equivalence can be made.

-a.     sanctification = blamelessness

-b. whole sanctification (complete or total sanctification) = blamelessness of the spirit + sanctification of the soul + sanctification of the body.

In part one of these teachings, the center point was the sanctification of the heart – the symbol of both spirit and soul. However, for a believer to have complete sanctification, he needs to be sanctified or blamelessness not just in the heart alone but also in the body as well.

For us to know how to make our body blameless, let us first see what the bible means by blamelessness and then we can apply it to our body. Let us consider the scriptures below.

Luke 1:5-6
5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

2 Peter 3:14 1
4 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless

The two scriptures, above, combined together defines blamelessness as;

-1. righteousness before God

-2. walking in the commandments of God (see also John 14:15)

-3. walking in the ordinances of God

-4. being without spot

Based on the points above, a believer can be said to be blameless or sanctified in the body when

-1. The clothes he/she wears is determined by the commandments of God.

-2. He/She conducts his/her body in line with the ordinances of God.

-3. His/Her body is without spot or defilement.

Things that can defile the body

-1. Attires of harlot; Proverb 7:10

Proverb 7:10
10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

Any clothe that, if a woman wears, can sexually induce men easily and made them fall into lust is an attire of an harlot. These include clothes that reveal or expose erotic body parts, or tightly reveal your body shapes the way a swimming trunk does and so on. In fact, any clothes that make other men see the parts of your body or see some obscene shapes of parts of your body that are supposed to be the exclusive right of your husband may be an attire of harlot.

-2. Tattoos; Leviticus 19:28

Leviticus 19:28
28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print  marks upon you: I am the LORD.

Children of God are not supposed to draw tattoos. They are an abomination to God. If you cannot resist tattoos, do you think you can resist the mark of the beast? Since we say we are the body of Christ, we should let our bodies be without spots or wrinkles?

-3 Jewelries; these includes rings, earrings, nose rings, lips rings, necklace and so on.

-4. Fornication;

1 Corinthians 6:18
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

-5. Anything that destroys the body; these include but are not limited to alcohol, cigarettes, hard drugs, bleaching of skin and the rest.

-6. Anything that changes the truth of God for a lie; these include but are not limited to artificial eye lashes, artificial nails, hair weavons and so on.

-7. The use of charms and occult materials on the body.

-8. The use of anything that does not glorify God on the body;

1 Corinthians 10:31
31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Sometimes, one of my friends, who was working in a company that distributed beer drinks, gave me two shirts. The name of a popular beer brand, that believes it is the ultimate, was printed on them. We were wearing the clothes innocently. Then, one day, in a revelation, the Lord told me that I was the one teaching people how to drink beer. My reaction suggested that I disagreed. Then, He asked me to look at the shirt on my neck. Behold! It was the beer shirt. Immediately, I became dumbfounded. I repented of my sins and henceforth I turned those shirts into rags.

Today, Christian youths, especially in Nigeria, are wearing something that looks like a muslim rosary on their hands, even to church. I have asked many of them what the item was and used for. Their typical answers are ‘we are just wearing it” Others may say ‘it is just for fashion’.

These same items are worn by garage touts, people of other religions, occultists and so on. How can a child of God be wearing what is in vogue among unbelievers without knowing why they wear it or what it is used for or even if it is biblical to do? We need to be cautious and watchful.

Summary
The outward reveals the inward. Any holiness that centers on the heart alone will not be complete and cannot be enough to make you see the Lord at rapture.

When God wanted to visit the Israelite at Mount Sinai, He told them to sanctify themselves and washed their clothes.

Exodus 19:10
10 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,

Exodus 19:10
14 And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.

It can be inferred from the scriptures above that their sanctification would not be complete unless they washed their clothes. So it is today. Any sanctification that renders your body with wrinkles and spot is not complete.

Conclusion
Remember that You have been bought with a price and you are not your own? You must now live to fulfill the wills of your master, Who paid your ransome and not the wills of the world. Remember the Lord’s prayer in Mathew 6:10

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

And His will is that you be without spot nor wrinkles and be preserved blameless in your spirit, soul and body till He comes.

Why Did God Not Pierce Holes on Our Ears?

Why Did God Not Pierce Holes on Our Ears?
You do not need to be a medical doctor or have a specialized knowledge to know the various parts of man’s body that God has put holes and the functions those holes are meant to perform.

I will mention some of the parts of human’s body where God had bored holes and the reasons for which He bore those holes on human’s body.

-1.  Mouth – basically for feeding and talking.

-2.  Nostrils- basically for breathing.

-3.  Ear drums – for hearing.

-4.  Human’s private parts (both male and female) – urinating and child production.

-5.  Anus – for defecating.

-6.  Body pores – for passing out sweats.

-7.  Woman’s bosom – for breastfeeding children.

These are, perhaps, all the places God has bored holes in our bodies and the functions those holes perform.

However, God did not pierce or bore holes on our ears. What could be the reason why God did not pierce the ears of human beings?

-1.  Did He forget to pierce the ears of human beings?

-2.  Did He leave the ears for human being to pierce by themselves?

-3. Did He just not pierce the ears for human being because the holes would not be serving any purpose if they were pierced?

For me, personally, I think the first and second reasons were out of order. They could not have been the reasons why God did not pierce our ears from birth.

Only the third reason is logical and meaningful. Our ears were not pierced from birth by God because it is not necessary for them to be pierced because if they were pierced they would not be serving and godly defined purpose.

Can you imagine that, at birth, a baby comes out of her mother’s womb with her two ears already been pierced? This will be totally abnormal and strange. In fact, this will make headlines in the newspaper.

Why then do people now pierce their ears and their daughters’ ears? The only reason was because they want to hang their ear-rings on them.

Brothers and sisters, I wish to tell you that this act of piercing ears and wearing of ear-rings and jewelries are worldly and ungodly acts. Wearing of ear-rings and jewelries has its roots in idolatry.

Pharaoh, the symbol of idols, was the first person recorded in the bible to put ring on his finger and to wear chains on his neck.

Genesis 41:41-42
41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.

42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;

From biblical point of view, wearing of chains, ear-rings, hand-rings and all jewelries have connections with idol worship. To find out this connection between jewelries and idolatry, listen to the message below.

Jesus is coming. Stay ready in absolute repentance, righteousness and holiness.

GOD IS CALLING THE NATION OF NIGERIA TO REPENTANCE – NIGERIA, REPENT!

Important Information:

VISION OF ‘NIGERIA REPENT’ WRITTEN BOLDLY IN THE SKY!
On Sunday, 22nd July, 2018, around 10.30p.m., in the night, Nigerian time, I had a powerful revelation in which the nation of Nigeria was called to repent.

In the revelation, I was in a street, with some people I knew, somewhere in Nigeria. Then, from a far distance from where I was, a ray of light was beamed from the ground unto the sky. I did not know the exact location from where the light was beamed but it was from the ground unto the sky, and from a far distance to where I was. On reaching the sky, the light wrote the word ‘JESUS’ in capital in the sky. Then the light dispersed and formed the words ‘NIGERIA REPENT’ in capital letter in the same spot.

I noticed that all the people around me did not notice what was going on, in the sky. Quickly, I called their attention to see what was written in the sky by the light beaming into the sky. They saw what was written and were amazed. The words, ‘NIGERIA REPENT’ that were displayed lasted for a few seconds and faded away into the sky.

What is Complete Repentance?
Before I speak on the interpretation and the message from the Revelation, I will like to point out the true meaning of repentance. Repentance is more than praying for forgiveness of sin. Repentance goes a step further than that. It involves turning away from the sins you prayed for their forgiveness. This is called forsaking of sins. Unless and until forsaking of sins is involved, repentance is not complete. Let us consider the scripture below.

Proverb 28:13
13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

We can see from the above scripture that the total condition for receiving of mercy is to confess and forsake one’s sins. Anything short of confession and turning away from wickedness is not a complete repentance.

Benefits of Answering God’s call for a National Repentance
God is the only sovereign King in the whole of the universe. He can call anyone to repentance if such had done evil in His sight. He can call a nation, president, king, church, family, any group of persons or an individual to repentance.
The followings are few of the biblical benefits of heeding God’s calls for national repentance.

-1. God judgments on the nation will be cancelled and spared from destruction:
Jeremiah 18:7-8
At what instant I (God) shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

-2. The Nation will be healed:
2 Chronicles 7:14
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

-3. God’s blessings for the nation will be retained:
Jeremiah 18:9-10
9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom,  to build and to plant it;

10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

-4. The nation will be saved from death:
Ezekiel 18:23, 31-32, Ezekiel 33:11,
23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

-5.  The nation will experience spiritual revival:
Psalm 85:1-5
1  LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of  Jacob.
2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?

Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

The humble and contrite person or nation whom the Lord will revive is the one who can repent like David, the king (Psalm 51).

How to Carry out a National Repentance

2 Chronicles 7:14
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

From 2 Chronicles 7:14 text above, God gave a four-step procedure for carrying out a national repentance. They are listed below.

-1. Humility:
When God mentions out the sins of a person or nation and calls for repentance, humility means to agree with the Word of God and be ready to make amendments. If a person disagrees with the Word of God, he will never submit himself for correction or repentance.

When the sins of David, the king, was mentioned to him, he showed humility by accepting that what God said about him was true and that he needed to repent. That is humility. The nation, too, must admit that they have sinned before the Lord and needs to repent.

Another way of showing this humility is by showing remorsefulness for your sins and making ready to repent. Those that reject the word of the Lord are proud before the Lord and the Lord has no delights in proud.

-2. Prayer:
After showing humility or remorsefulness for your sins, then you must go a step further by offering prayers of confession and request for God’s mercy.

-3. Seek the Lord:
You can further seek the face of the Lord in fasting.

-4. Turning Away from Evils:                                                                           Turning away from the evil you repented of is what makes the repentance complete.

It is hypocrisy to say you repent of sin and you still continue in the sin.

Nineveh was an example of a country that carried out a national repentance, in the bible. Let us compare the steps they took for their repentance vis-à-vis the four-step guidelines above. Let us refer to Jonah 3:1-10.
1 And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying,

2 Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.

3 So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days journey.

4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a days journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

6 For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:

8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

9 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

The followings are what they did.

-1. The people of Nineveh believed God.
It was love on the part of God to show Nineveh her sins and to call her to repent. However, it was humility on the part of Nineveh to believe God that they had sinned and to accept the call for repentance. Jonah 3:5a says ‘So the people of Nineveh believed God’……………..

-2. They proclaimed a fast.
After believing God that they had sinned, the people of Nineveh quickly began to seek the Lord in fasting. Jonah 3:5b says and proclaimed a fast’

-3. They prayed fervently unto God.
They did not stop at fasting alone. The people of Nineveh also cried mightily to God in prayer. Jonah 3:8b says ‘and cry mightily unto God’

-4. They turned away from him evil and violence.  Jonah 3:8c
Though the people of Nineveh did so many evils, there violence was particularly mentioned by their. In other words, though, God did not mention their evil deeds by name, yet, they identified their wickedness and evil deeds and they stopped doing them. Jonah 3:8c says ‘yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.’

Then, at Nineveh, kidnappers stopped kidnapping. Rapists stopped rapping. Armed robbers stopped robbery. Ritualists stopped rituals. Prostitutes stopped prostitution and so on. And then, their repentance was complete. God was particularly moved by their turning away from evils and He stopped the judgment He had proclaimed on them and did not destroy Nineveh any more. That was why He called for the repentance in the first instance. Jonah 3:10 says ‘And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not’.

-5. The Repentance cut across all the land and people of Nineveh. Jonah 3:7-8.
We can see from the above that Nineveh complied with the 4-point procedure spelt out by God for carrying out a national repentance and consequently She was spared from destruction. Her land was healed and revival broke in the nation.

Interpretation and Message Of The Dream
The following messages and interpretation can be derived from the revelation and biblical analysis above.

-1. The Lord, Jesus Christ, is calling Nigeria to repent.

-2. The time available for the repentance is short.

-3. National repentance should begin in Nigeria, earnestly.

-4. The repentance should cut across the nation.

-5. Nigerian leaders and all citizens should turn away from all wickedness prevalent in our nation. These include, but not limited to, blood shedding, kidnapping, violence, election rigging, terrorism, cultism, internet fraud, child trafficking, prostitution, looting of fund and the rest.

-6. Let churches begin to organize repentance revivals.
In recent times, so many Nigerian churches have been organizing praise nights. While I do not say it is wrong to praise God, yet, it will amount to sheer hypocrisy to be doing so in sin. God is more interested in repentance that praise; the same way he is more interested in obedience that sacrifice. Let us begin with repentance revival instead.

I have seen some few national prayers being held in Nigeria. But I must say that what God requires is also more than just national prayers. In addition to prayers, let us also fast and weep for our evil deeds in this nation, and let massive and genuine proclamation for turning away from all the evils of this nation begin. Let us go the way of repentance crusade instead of miracle crusades. The Lord will willingly splash miracles and healings upon us if our ways are right with Him. Let churches begin to rebuke sins heavily.

Radio stations, television stations, and other media must deliberately begin to call Nigerians to turn away from our sins.
