Working Scripture: Genesis 3:6

Gen 3:6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

From the underlined parts of our working scripture, as we did for the first and second stages of this teaching, let us mention all the 5  categorical processes or stages that Eve went through in eating the forbidden fruit:

1.    She made eye contact with the forbidden fruit and could not take her eyes away from it. {pleasant to the eye).

2.    Her heart desired to have a taste of the fruit (a tree to be desired).

3.    In between, before she took the fruit, she must have planned how to pluck the fruit.

4.    She carried out her heart desire by eating the fruit. She took action (and did eat)

5. Consequently, she became lost to death (God’s judgment).

For the First Stage of Lust, we discussed the contact stage of Lust and mentioned the case of Eve making eye contact with the forbidden fruit.

For the Second Stage of Lust, we discussed the desire stage of lust and mentioned the graduation of Eve’s making eye contact with the forbidden fruit to Eve’s desiring of the forbidden fruit in her heart. 

Now we want to discuss the third stage of Lust. At this stage, a Youth begin to make a plan how to actualize what he/she has been longing to touch, taste or test in his/her heart.

Many youth call it ‘love’ but I call it ‘Love Under Secret Terms’ (lust). At this stage, a male and a female youth that are lusting after each other may begin to behave funny and secretively. They may begin to do things in secret- secret phone calls, secret text messages, secret chats, secret visits when parents are not at home, secret invitations and so on. Even toasting belongs here. It is during this secret stage that many youths roll out plans that take them to the real action (fornication).

Lies are also not too far from Youths engaging in lust at this stage because they need a lot of lies to succeed in, and to cover their secret loves and plans.

Proverb 7:19 tells of a woman, whose husband had travelled, and was planning a ‘secret love’ with a young man she had been lusting after.

Proverb 7:17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.

19 For the good man is not at home, he is gone a long journey:

This planning of secret love is also sinful because, if you are not checked, it is what you planned that you will carry out as mentioned in Micah 2:1.

Micah 2:1 Woe to them that devise (plan) iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.

Micah 2:1 explains the reason many young girls were raped after honouring secret invitations from their ‘so-called-boyfriends’. Their boyfriends planned the rape and carried it out when they see their girlfriends.
